RADIO MALABAR: DUNIA RADIO TERSEMBUNYI DI LEMBAH PEGUNUNGAN MALABAR, BANDUNG, 1916-1946
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article examines the historical development of one of Bandung's oldest radio stations, the Malabar Radio Station, in the Dutch Colonialism Era. During this period, radio played a crucial role in society due to limitations in communication media. The research uses historical methods, encompassing heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Primary archival sources, such as newspapers and documents from the Dutch Colonial era, inform this study. The findings reveal that Malabar Radio Station was prominent as Southeast Asia's largest radio station, pioneering a wireless transmission system capable of cross-border communication. Remarkably, despite its geographical location in the valley of Mount Puntang (Malabar), Bandung, Malabar Radio Station effectively disseminated information to the public. This article explores Malabar Radio Station's historical, social, and geographical dimensions during the Dutch Colonial era. It underscores the significance of preserving this colonial legacy, potentially transforming it into a historical tourism destination in West Java.
