Main Article Content
Abstract
Arabic digital literature has significant potential as both a popular medium and a discourse-shaping force, as seen on the X application through the account of Ahlam Mosteghanemi. This study aims to identify these two aspects through the use of conceptual metaphor theory proposed by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, including structural, orientational, and ontological metaphors. This research is qualitative in nature, employing a critical discourse approach. To analyze the meaning of literary texts, this study applies conceptual metaphor theory. This research used to read with note-taking techniques. The object of this research is a post by Ahlam Mosteghanemi on the X application dated December 22, 2025. The analysis involves identifying and classifying the use of conceptual metaphors in the selected post, as well as examining the data based on factors contributing to literary popularity. Furthermore, the data is critically analyzed through cognition and social context to uncover the author's ideology as reflected in the literary tweet. The results indicate that the literary text posted by Ahlam employs conceptual metaphor as a stylistic device. Metaphors in literary texts are universal in nature, allowing X users to interpret the text based on the implicit meanings conveyed in Ahlam’s writing. The use of conceptual metaphors in her literary tweets generates active responses from X users, contributing to the popularity of her ideas as the account owner. In addition, Ahlam’s literary tweets shape discourse through the use of conceptual metaphors in her posts.
