This edition of Jazirah: Journal of Civilization and Culture brings together diverse scholarly contributions that reflect the journal’s interdisciplinary focus on history, language, literature, and culture. The articles are written by researchers from leading Indonesian institutions such as UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Universitas Mataram, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and UIN Imam Bonjol Padang as well as Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt. This edition addresses a wide range of themes, including Indonesian and Islamic history, historiography, cultural transformation, and socio-religious dynamics. Historical studies examine colonial elites, Islamic educational figures, feminist movements in Egypt, and governance in the Abbasid era. Cultural analyses explore local traditions, symbolic meanings in customary practices, and the commodification of religious symbols in urban Muslim societies. Linguistic and literary studies focus on Arabic poetry, narrative strategies in modern Arabic fiction, and applied linguistic analysis of Arabic terminology.
